"Az i Ya" is an outstanding linguistic study by Kazakh poet, writer and cultural scientist Olzhas Suleimenov, first published in 1975. In this book, the author addresses the monument of Old Russian literature "The Tale of Igor's Campaign", analyzing the history of its appearance, grammatical and semantic structure of its language. Suleimenov puts forward a hypothesis according to which the lexical structure and images of "The Tale..." are influenced by Turkic cultural elements, which allows us to take a new look at many dark places in the work, as well as the role of the Turkic peoples in the history of Ancient Rus' as a whole.
