Blockade life through the eyes of a teenager from a family of the repressed.

The heroic defense of the city on the Neva River lasted 900 days. In the ring of the blockade were not only adults, but also children who shared all the hardships of the German siege. Life and everyday life of teenagers in Leningrad in the novel "Blockade Runner".

The history of the Great Patriotic War is made up of millions of ego-histories of the citizens of our country. Soldiers at the front, workers in factories, peasants in collective farms worked for a common victory, but perceived reality differently. How did the children of Leningrad perceive the blockade reality? How did they see the horrors of war?

The hero of the novel "Blockadnik", the teenager Peter, was not much different from his fellow citizens - his parents were repressed in 1937, and the boy was brought up by his uncle and aunt. The war caught eleven-year-old Pyotr at a dacha in Borshchevo near Leningrad, where he encountered a German saboteur. Together with his aunt, Peter manages to return to the city before it is completely surrounded.

In the besieged city, the protagonist underwent a series of tests: as part of the people's squad, he extinguishes enemy "lighters" and is on duty at bomb shelters, meets death every day, starves because of the theft of ration cards. The author depicts in detail the details of blockade life, rations, the process of obtaining water and firewood. Peter's relatives - his sister, grandmother and her son - perish in the besieged city, but he himself undergoes the most severe test of war and hunger and is evacuated. In the fall of 1944 Peter's family returns to Leningrad and participates in the reconstruction of the city.
