The book presents a therapeutic model for working with children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic experiences. This refers to situations in which a child directly experiences or observes something related to the fact or threat of death, serious physical injuries or violence of any kind. In most cases, trauma manifests itself in the form of emotional, behavioral and other problems. The method that the authors propose to use to help traumatized children is called trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). In Russia, it is used, among other things, to work with the consequences of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The authors propose working with traumatic manifestations in stages and systematically, developing certain skills in children and parents and gradually moving on to talking about and comprehending the traumatic experience.

The book is intended for psychologists and psychotherapists working with children, but will also be useful for those specialists who work with adults who have experienced violence and loss.
