"The House on the Shore" is one of the last novels of the English writer Daphne Dumorier, whose name is known all over the world. As in many works by Dumorie, including such famous works as "Rebecca", "Jamaica Inn" and "Cousin Rachel", the novel is set in Cornwall, where most of the writer's life. In an old house on the shore of the bay comes Dick Young, hoping to relax there from the bustle of London life. The mansion belongs to his old friend Magnus Lane, a professor of biophysics. In exchange for his hospitality Magnus asks Dick to experience the action of the "elixir" created by him, which, as the professor assures, has a very unusual property to connect the past and the future. The other world into which Dick is immersed turns out to be much more real than the life he has led so far....
