John Chrysostom (347 - 407), Orthodox theologian and talented preacher, one of the greatest Fathers of the Church, Archbishop of Constantinople. Born in Syrian Antioch, he received a brilliant secular and then theological education. For several years he asceticized in the desert, taking monastic tonsure. For many years he preached the Word of God in Antioch, at the age of 50 he took the Constantinople cathedra. In the capital he suffered from ill-wishers and ended his life in exile in Komany, in the territory of modern Abkhazia.
The legacy of St. John Chrysostom is extremely extensive. In this edition, selected sayings of the saint are collected by theme and arranged in alphabetical order for the convenience of readers.
