The new book by the German-Swiss writer Christian Kracht (born 1966) "Eurotrash" is formally a sequel to his debut novel "Faserland" (1995).
The place of action - modern Switzerland, in which again travels the protagonist, again and again encountering various manifestations of the German culture, loved and hated by him. Now he is not alone - he is accompanied by his elderly mother, either insane from old age, alcohol and pills, or enlightened and seeing more than ordinary people. In exploring modernity, Kracht also experiments with genre. "Eurotrash" is a kind of autofiction, full of real details from the author's life, in some places shocking, and no less radical elements of fiction. The novel was shortlisted for the German and Swiss Book Awards.
