The translation is based on the original German edition of Johannes Voigt's History of the Lizard Society in Prussia according to newly discovered sources, which was published in 1823 in Königsberg.
Johannes Voigt (Johannes Voigt, 1786-1863) left a significant trace in the historiography of the German (Teutonic) Order and East Prussia. It was under him at the University of Königsberg that history began to find its own identity, so he is rightly called "the father of Prussian historiography". Many of his works have become classics and still have not lost their relevance. "The History of the Lizard Society in Prussia according to newly discovered sources" was the first study of a little-known page of the history of the German Order in Prussia - the "Lizard Society". In 1823 Voigt published it as a separate book. Since then it has become a textbook, but has never been reprinted until today.
