Several generations of readers grew up on the books of Radiy Petrovich Pogodin. His fairy tales and works for teenagers—"Morning Shore," "Where the Clouds Come From," and "The Azure Rooster of My Childhood"—became an integral part of Soviet childhood. Pogodin's works have been adapted for the screen numerous times, including "Dubravka," "Turn on the Northern Lights," and "Step from the Roof." The writer only began to explore the topic of war in the early 1970s. A frontline reconnaissance soldier who fought in the Great Patriotic War, was wounded, and awarded two Orders of Glory and two Orders of the Red Star. He knew war well, and in his largely autobiographical works, he never strayed from the truth about it. A special place in Pogodin's oeuvre is occupied by the novel "I Will Catch Up with You in Heaven," complex in form yet poignant in its simplicity and directness of meaning. It is a novel about war and the siege, about the fate of a man and a generation. This edition also includes stories dedicated to the post-war period – a time of scars that marked everyone, either visibly or invisibly.
