Milorad Pavić is a Serbian novelist, dubbed by critics as the first writer of the 21st century. His works blend magical realism with hypertextuality, allowing the reader to influence the plot.

The story of "The Writing Drawer" begins at the very end. It is a mystery novel, a labyrinthine novel, into which you delve deeper with each chapter. Inside the writing drawer—in postcards, an ad, a recipe, a manuscript, pages torn from a book, film, and photographs—is captured the complex love story of two extraordinary individuals.

In the writing drawer, the fates of an unknown Frenchwoman who can read scents and buys twice the most expensive fur coat in Paris completely free of charge intertwine with those of a young man who seeks a woman with a female copy of the "Khazar Dictionary" and who forgot Serbian in seven lessons. Their relationship is measured by a love clock, which measures the duration of lovemaking. Sometimes one or more drops of time fall together, sometimes one drop of love time is larger, and the next, smaller...

This is a wordless story about what love is.

The novel has two endings, one of which can be unlocked by clicking a QR code.
