A new book by St. Petersburg historian and PhD candidate A. A. Lebedev is dedicated to the failed Bosphorus expedition of 1853, which was the Black Sea Fleet's last chance to capture Constantinople.

The cancellation of the expedition had negative consequences for the Russian state. Despite a significant number of works devoted to the history of the Crimean War of 1853-1856, questions remain regarding this story. This study, which analyzes the preparation plans for the Bosphorus operation from 1835 to 1853, seeks to answer these questions.
