The name of Anatoly Naumovich Rybakov (1911-1998), a classic of Russian literature, author of the epochal novels "Children of Arbat" and "Heavy Sand", is known throughout the world, his works have been translated into dozens of languages. However, widespread fame came to Rybakov long before the publication of his major novels. And the greatest popularity won adventure books, which, along with the works of Kassil and Gaidar, made up the golden fund of Soviet literature for youth, and were repeatedly screened with the participation of the author as a screenwriter. Among them stands out a trilogy about Misha Polyakov: "Kortik" (1948), "The Bronze Bird" (1956) and "Shot" (1975). The heroes of these stories belong to a generation of brave, honest, straightforward "children of the revolution", and on the steep turns of the plot lies the glow of the Civil War, the NEP and irreconcilable class struggle. To the trilogy, thanks to the figure of the main character, formally adjoins and the novel "Drivers" (1950), which was written immediately after "Kortik" and was awarded the highest state prize in literature. In this edition, Rybakov's works are published with beautiful illustrations by Igor Ilyinsky and Ekaterina Chudnovskaya.
