Oleg Cassini (1913-2006) was a Russian-born aristocrat and a famous American fashion designer of the mid-20th century. He worked in Hollywood, creating costumes for many movies. He was married to Hollywood star Jean Tierney. After divorcing her, he was engaged to Grace Kelly, but their marriage failed due to opposition from Grace's family. In 1960 he was announced as the official fashion designer of Jacqueline Kennedy, the First Lady of the United States, and created her recognizable unique style. By Cassini's own admission, he had the opportunity to dress (and undress) many famous women of the twentieth century. This is described in his fascinating autobiography, published in Russian for the first time.
