Seventeen years ago, a spaceship of earthlings crashed on an uninhabited planet. Less than half of the crew survived. Help never came. People built a small settlement and tried to live... but life turned into survival and a brutal struggle for existence. Adults grew old and died, and children born in the settlement grew up, in essence, as savages with a harsh tribal mentality - their own for their native harsh nature and alien to human civilization. Three attempts to reach the abandoned ship to take the canned food, medicine, books and weapons the villagers needed from there have already failed. And now the fourth group, almost entirely consisting of teenagers, sets off on a terrible journey through a deadly mountain pass...
The book is illustrated with paintings by the famous mathematician and author of the "New Chronology" A. T. Fomenko. Most of these works were used by director V. I. Tarasov in the half-hour cartoon “Pass”, filmed in 1988 at the Soyuzmultfilm studio based on the story of the same name by Kir Bulychev - the first part of the novel “The Village”.
