Boris Nikolaevich Polevoy (1908-1981) was a Soviet writer and screenwriter. During the Great Patriotic War, he worked as a war correspondent. This experience formed the basis for all of the writer's works. B. N. Polevoy's most famous work, "The Story of a Real Man" (1941), is based on real events. The author was awarded the Stalin Prize for this book, and "The Story of a Real Man" became a classic of literature about the Great Patriotic War. This is an exciting story about pilot Alexei Meresyev. The prototype for the book's hero was Hero of the Soviet Union pilot Alexei Maresyev, whose plane was shot down in an air battle. The pilot finds himself in the forest without food or water, and later, in the hospital, both of his legs are amputated. But this does not prevent Meresyev from returning to his former life and continuing to fly a fighter plane. Pilot Maresyev is a strong, brave man, with his feat he shows how one can remain a Real Man in the most inhuman conditions.
