Economist Guido Giacomo Preparata sets out to discover what forces brought the radical nationalist party led by Adolf Hitler to power in Germany in 1933 and helped him unleash World War II. Analyzing the events that followed the sudden rise of a united Germany in the late 19th century, he concludes that the young ambitious state was primarily challenging the might of the British Empire. The real nightmare for Britain would be a "fraternal merger" between Germany and Russia - such a geopolitical entity would inevitably destroy its global hegemony. To prevent such a scenario, the British ruling elite developed a plan to introduce conflict regimes in Russia and Germany. The war and the Iron Curtain, which divided the center of Europe, were the successful completion of this plan.
