Yekaterinburg in the 1990s. A group of young poets wanders from party to party along the cold and dangerous streets of the city, including the most talented one, Boris Ryzhy, a junior research fellow at the Institute of Geophysics. Ironic and friendly, he can with equal ease come to an agreement with local gangsters, run to Moscow for the Antibooker Prize, get into a fight at a kiosk and end up in the police station.

The book includes the screenplay "Ryzhy" by Savva Minaev and his story about working on the film, as well as an interview with the film's director Semyon Serzin and the actor who plays the title role, Evgeny Alekhine.
