The history of Soviet foreign intelligence is interesting not only for its events, but also for the fates of those who served it faithfully and devotedly for many years. Recently, the names of a number of outstanding Soviet security officers have become known, thanks to whose selfless work the great Soviet empire was created. One of them was Colonel-General Alexander Mikhailovich Sakharovsky, a man who devoted his entire life to work in the state security agencies. He headed Soviet foreign intelligence for sixteen years, and it would not be an exaggeration to say that these were its stellar years. Under Sakharovsky's leadership, a team of outstanding security officers-intelligence officers was formed, who knew no equal in the world.

The book "Sakharovsky" was the last by Vladimir Sergeyevich Antonov, a famous historian of the special services, writer and journalist who dedicated his life to preserving and increasing the historical memory of the legendary employees and brilliant operations of the domestic foreign intelligence. He died in May of this year in Moscow.
