The novel covers the historical events of the 20th century. Shortly before the Revolution, Vasily Makiyenko was sentenced to hard labor in Transbaikalia for arson of a nobleman's estate, and then to a settlement in the Amur region. His wife and two sons made their way to him with great difficulty. They established themselves firmly in the Far East. During the Civil War, the sons fought for Soviet power but were still subjected to dispossession. Nastya, Vasily's granddaughter, escapes, hiding her past, but the authorities discover she is the daughter of dispossessed kulaks, and she is forced to flee again. Vitaly Krasner is a member of the Union of Writers of Russia. His works have been published by Khabarovsk publishing houses and the literary journal "Far East."
