This work is a brief strategic sketch of the activities of the Soviet political and military leadership in the field of military planning during the crucial period of the USSR's emergence as a leading world power. Starting from the march to the Vistula in 1920. - Through the analysis of operational plans of the Red Army in the interwar period and campaign plans during the Great Patriotic War to the General Staff's fundamental rethinking of the war experience at the turn of the 1950s-1960s, the authors, relying on an extensive corpus of documents from the Red Army General Staff and Stalin's personal archive, seek to reconstruct the strategic logic of the Soviet High Command. This is the first time such a study has been undertaken in Russian and foreign literature.
