Sasha Filipenko, as always (read "Former Son" and "Intentions"), is relevant, observant, witty, and laconic. He's once again managed to pack a full-length action-packed novel into a compact book. Of course, the skill of a television screenwriter for Channel One and Dozhd is evident, but something else is also palpable: Sasha Filipenko's characters are his peers and contemporaries. Musicians, football players, journalists, political strategists... They were unlucky with the times. They acutely sense their fleeting youth, which may be why their dialogue is so fragmented and coded, and their love doesn't suggest a continuation. "The Harassment" is a story about how cynicism and irony aren't universal armor. And that trying to slip between conscience and meanness can end with a text message on your phone: "He threw a child out of the window (((...)."
