The eighth volume of the series "The Complete Works of the Holy Fathers of the Church and Church Writers in Russian Translation" "The Works" of St. Athanasius the Great, Archbishop of Alexandria (297-373) is devoted to the theological and polemical heritage of the saint. This volume contains apologetic, dogmatic-polemical, and historical-polemical works.
The present edition opens with a preface by Metropolitan Vladimir of Omsk and Tauris, as well as an article by Prof. A.I. Sidorov and P.K. Dobrotsvetov on the life, work, and teachings of St. Athanasius. The appendix contains the work of Hieromonk Kirill (Lopatin) "The Doctrine of St. Athanasius the Great on the Holy Trinity (Comparison with the Doctrine of the Same Subject in the First Three Centuries)". The texts of St. Athanasius the Great's works are provided with theological, church-historical and textual commentaries. At the end of the book there is an index of quotations from the Holy Scriptures, as well as name, geographical and subject indexes. The editors hope that this edition will attract the attention of teachers and students of theological schools and simply thoughtful Orthodox readers who are not indifferent to the holy theological heritage and its integral component - the works of St. Athanasius the Great.
