The works of St. Simeon the New Theologian (949-1022), an outstanding Byzantine writer-mystic, reflected the features of his unique personality. The central theme of his writings is the encounter with Christ Himself, which spiritually transforms man.

The personal experience of communion with God, according to St. Simeon, is necessary for salvation and is available at all times to every believer in Christ and His eternal gospel (Rev. 14:6), because Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
The second volume contains a continuation of spiritual words (words 53-92), as well as theological chapters. In the appendix to the second volume is placed the ascetic word of the spiritual father of the Monk Simeon, the Elder Simeon the Pious. The translation of the first two volumes of the works was made by Saint Theophanes the Recluse according to the New Greek translation of Dionysius of Zagorea.
