The book by L. Karankevich and V. Nikitin recreates the heroic and dramatic pages of the coastal phase of the Vyborg offensive operation of the Leningrad Front on an extensive source base. The work is a logical continuation of the previous volumes "Chronicles of the battles on the Karelian Isthmus in the summer of 1944". The authors show the daily course of the fighting on the islands of Bjerke and Vyborg Bay and give a balanced analysis of them. Using various archival documents and materials of the USSR and Finland, the authors provide new information about little-known episodes of the operation, the numerical composition of the groups of the opposing sides and their losses. The work uses documents and photographs from the collections of the Central: Archive: Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Military Archive. Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation. Central Naval Archive, Vyborg United Museum-Reserve, National Archives of Finland (Kansallisarkisto), photographic archive of the Finnish Defense Forces (SA-kuva), funds of the Museum of the History of Forces of the LEF of the Officers' House of the Western Military District, photographic fund of the State Memorial Museum of the Defense and Siege of Leningrad, as well as materials from private collections.
