Mitch Albom (b. 1958) is a renowned American author, journalist, screenwriter, playwright, radio and television host, and musician, whose books have sold over 39 million copies worldwide.

Tuesdays with Morrie (1997) chronicles the author's weekly meetings with his former sociology professor, 78-year-old Morrie Schwartz, who was dying of a terminal illness. Every Tuesday, Mitch traveled from Michigan to Massachusetts and had in-depth conversations with Morrie about life and death, love and friendship, and true and false values. Trying to find a way to pay Morrie's medical bills, Mitch decided to publish a book recounting these meetings.

Initially published in a small print run, "Tuesdays…" entered the New York Times bestseller list thanks to a mention on Oprah Winfrey's show, and then remained at the top of the list for a long time. Reprinted numerous times and translated into over 40 languages, Albom's book became the literary basis for the 1999 film of the same name, starring Jack Lemmon as Morrie (Emmy Award-winning) and Hank Azaria as Mitch.
