American writer Howard Phillips Lovecraft never published a book in his lifetime. His confession came decades after his death. Lovecraft is called the founder of the literature of “supernatural horror”, “literary Copernicus” and “Edgar Twentieth Century”. The figure of the writer is surrounded by a cover of conjectures, myths and mysteries.

The collection includes the best stories of one of the most influential mythmakers of the XX century. Lovecraft mixed everyday reality and a universal nightmare, showed the clash of a common man with incomprehensible and sometimes deadly creatures. Dagon, Cthulhu, Yog-Sothot and many other dark deities he invented in the 1920s gained such popularity that hundreds of science fiction creators, including Neil Gaiman and Stephen King, still continue to expand his mythology.

The collection includes the best stories of one of the most influential mythmakers of the XX century. The publication is supplemented by an introductory article by philologist Alexander Zverev and notes by the translator Lyudmila Volodarskaya.
