Rachel Cusk (born 1967) is a Canadian-British novelist, author of the path-breaking Contour trilogy and winner of many literary awards. "Coventry" is a collection of magazine articles and book forewords written by Cusk between 2009 and 2019. It is titled after an essay of the same name, in which the writer reflects on the English expression "to send someone to Coventry" - that is, to oblivion and silence - and the exclusion she feels from her parents. The collection includes essays on life in the English countryside, creating home and workspace, the works of Louise Bourgeois, Françoise Sagan, Chekhov's Three Sisters, and others.
