Omar Khayyam was born in the city of Nishapur in 1048. His biography is shrouded in legends, myths and speculation. He was a poet, mathematician, philosopher, physicist and astronomer, under whose leadership the most accurate of the solar calendars that existed at that time was created.

The title of the most famous poet of the East, read all over the world, was brought to him by his aphoristic quatrains - rubai, which became the spiritual heritage of mankind. In his aphoristic poems, Omar Khayyam reflects on the meaning of life, on the vulnerability of man in the face of fate, on fleeting moments of joy; he glorifies wisdom, love and beauty. Regardless of nationality, religion and culture, everyone finds something of their own, intimate and unspoken.
