The name of William Butler Yeats, Ireland's great poet in English, Nobel Prize winner (1923), belongs equally to Irish and English literature. The motifs of sagas of gods and heroes were combined in his poems with a tradition going back to Shakespeare and Milton, Blake and Shelley. The first collection of Yeats's poems in Russia was published only at the end of the twentieth century. Since then, many of his books have been published - not only lyrics, but also plays, stories, articles and memoirs. This edition offers the reader poetic works of Yates in translations by Grigory Kruzhkov: from romantic poems of the period of "Celtic twilight" to the collections "The Tower" (1928) and "The Spiral Staircase" (1933), which are recognized as the poet's peak achievements. The edition also includes an introductory article by the translator and detailed commentary.
