Natural science professor Ernst Haeckel (1834–1919) left a lasting mark on art history with his book "The Beauty of Form in Nature." His work contained the first systematic description of organisms, as well as 100 lithographic plates executed by Adolf Gilch based on his sketches and drawings. These illustrations became recognized as masterpieces of graphic art, served as models for many masters of Art Nouveau design and architecture, and continue to inspire artists worldwide.

This publication is intended for artists and art lovers. The tear-off sheets containing reproductions can be used as decorative elements in interior design; they are complemented by a block of contour copies for coloring.
