John R. R. Tolkien is one of the founders of the fantasy genre, the author of the famous trilogy "The Lord of the Rings". The universe of Middle-earth, described by Tolkien in the novels, received a harmonious continuation in short prose and poems included in this collection.

The cycle "Poems from the Red Book" tells about the adventures of Tom Bombadil, a famous character of "The Hobbit", and also introduces the reader to the magical world of Middle-earth: with gnomes, trolls, elves and other strange creatures - characters of the legends of Old England, whom the genius of Tolkien endows with romantic and comic features.

The collection also includes a wonderful fairy tale story "Roverandom", written by John R. R. Tolkien for his children in 1925. After the success of The Hobbit, it was prepared for publication in 1937, but was only published in 1998, when the author was no longer alive.
