The Operational Intelligence Centre (OIC) within the British Admiralty was established in the summer of 1937 and consisted of a director and a technical officer. By the start of World War II, it had grown into an organization that played a vital role in the victory of the Allied powers. "Mincemeat" (Minnsmith) was a successful deception operation carried out by British naval intelligence during World War II. The operation convinced the German high command that Allied forces were planning to invade Greece and Sardinia in mid-1943, when the true target was Sicily. Those who participated in the events described in the book describe the work of the OIC and one of the important deception operations. This collection includes Patrick Beesley's books "Special Purpose Intelligence." The History of the Admiralty's Operational Intelligence Centre 1939-1945 and Evan Montagu's The Man Who Wasn't There.
